Mullet Fish In

Leon Roskilly

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm doing a beginners' fish-in at Sun Pier Chatham, between 8:30am and 16:00 on Sunday 9th June.

Basically, it's to introduce newcomers to the tackle and techniques of mullet fishing.

If you are interested, drop me a line, otherwise just turn up on the day.

It's on the River Medway in Kent:

It's the right-most pier at the bottom of Limehouse Reach on the above map.

Ok now I know where it is I'm gonna have a look at the diary and see if I can make it.

Can you give me an idea of kit to bring.(heavy/light)?

I hear mullet have very soft mouths so are we talking small course hooks on light tackle?

I'll email you some stuff Kingfisher.

Yes, you will need light coarse fishing tackle. Match Rod, 6lb main line, size 8 hooks and lots of bread.

No, they don't have soft mouths. That's just an excuse made up by sea anglers who lose fish by not using balanced tackle, and who don't know how to play a fish!

Just wait until you have to remove a hook from a well-hooked mullet's mouth. Soft? More like reinforced rubber!!

Hi Leon,

Got back from Turkey last night and the fishing is great.

The only thing is that some of the fish are undistinguishiable (fek what a word if it is spelled right).

Loads of mullet in the harbour and they are monsters but alas I or my son never had one.

We did have loads of mullet in the 1-2lb bracket and loads of other fish but you would need a month to describe them.

Anyway what a holiday and I booked this morning for the end of september.

When we go back I am taking the match kit.

John.
