Anyway not differentiating between d and b runs in our family, for years I have been a babbie or dabbie to our daughter!

There's a 2 page spread on barded v barbless plus a particularly good editorial in the current Angler's Mail.

 

I go along with Mike. I'd add that barbless hooks can not only damage perch but can actually kill them. This is especially so in the larger sizes. The reason is that barbless hooks penetrate more deeply and perch have vital organs near the back of the throat. I gather a scientific study in the States came to a similar conclusion with largemouth bass.

 

So please use microbarbed hooks when using say size 8 and above for perch with big baits like lobworm. Please also print this out and show it to your local clubs and commercial fisheries.
