Does anyone fish the open matches on this fishery?

I used to do a lot of match fishing,had to stop due to ill health,but i now have the urge to start fishing them again.

I have enquired as to how much they are to fish and they are quite reasonable (open matches £15).What i would like to know is what sort of tactics i would need to employ on such a prolific venue.

I fish it a lot pleasure fishing,but i know pleasure and match fishing are totally different,so any tips would be most welcome.

a good idea is to fish it through the week if your local as tactics change with the temp there .

 

or even go along and just watch a match first to see who is doing what .

 

my mate did really well there the last couple of years and the first thing he does is take the water temp on arrival before he even gets the gear out of the car.

 

one other tip for woodlands - avoid matches on the old match pools unless you have a 16 mtr pole , coz the fish really do hug the islands and you need 16 to reach them.
