What a lovely fish,no wonder you're pleased!

Can you give more details on its capture?

Cheers, Gaffer. I'll write a little article about it soon, time permitting, but just to answer the essentials:

 

It was caught at Wingham Fisheries at around 10:15am on a fairly sunny day. The bait was The Remedy from Mistral, with the Beef Compound trigger - two 14mm boilies, one a pop-up, on a snowman rig. Size 4 Caliber hook on a semi-fixed lead rig.

Absolutely gorgeous, Murphling. And the fish ain't bad, either.

I know you said you wanted to lose your (carp) virginity but aren't you going a bit over the top, here? You're supposed to start 'small' and work your way up, aren't you? (Two inch crucians are the norm, so I've heard.)

Err, I've only ever caught one Mullet...but it weighed around 5lbs

 

Still, a few more wouldn't hurt Leon, would it upset you if I told you that I caught my Mullet on a manky old bit of Mackerel on a 3/0 hook? Thought so

Nah! The kids round here keep doing things like that all the time. I suspect that the mullet (not only the hardest fighting, but also the most intelligent of fish)do things like that just to wind me up!

 

At the moment, the keep following my mate Rob Ness around, impaling themselves on his hook. When they see me approaching they retreat about 30 yards and gather in a shoal for a communal laugh in :-(
