Anyone got any tips/info on Drayton?

Got a match there at the weekend.....never fished it before.

 

Ive heard alot of tackle has been lost there because rods/poles etc are just pulled straight in the water!!

 

Any info on baits and techniques?

The method scores well and any bait on the hook will catch. Beware of the takes ,keep your hand on your rod otherwise you can say bye bye to it

Cheers Seph, what kind of tackle do i want to be using? Im not usaually a very heavy fisher....

 

Will 8lb main line suffice? Any more than that and i think i will be strugglin for tackle.

 

And i know this is a very newbie question but what is the score with method feeding?....ive never done it and dont know how....any tips?

...just a thought....If its true what people say about the fish just taking ur bait and shooting off with it (and taking ur rod with it).

 

Would it be an idea to slacken the drag off and use the bait runner as a bite indicator....then just pick the rod up and tighten the drag for the strike? would this work?

Dave I would most deffinately use 8lb line. As for the takes you do not need to strike,but there is no reason why you can't use a baitrunner if you feel that you have to. I myself would not bother, I would just make sure my rod was very close to my hand. If I can help anymore let me know

I would use 8 or 10 mainline and a braided hooklength of about 8
