  1. One way that noone has mentioned is by using the new type of bait screws(Korum i think). You can hair rig the screws (which are a soft plastic) then simply screw them into the meat for a really good hold, they are also good for using with cat meat.
  2. Had a great days fishing on Saturday, consistently catching Ide between 1.5 and 3 lbs. Superb day.

Is match angling frowned upon for some reason? or is it one of those nudge nudge wink wink banter type things, with match angling aluminium and carbon super tackle Vs purest wicker basket and cane rod. Im in a club and really enjoy match fishing, i also pleasure fish of course.

Whats wrong with keping match anglers happy?
  5. If this keeps up all week the fishing should be grand at the weekend. i was planning on having a weekend off but right now im thinkingthe fishing could be good.
  6. Ive caught on artificial corn, maggots and pellet. I used the corn and pellet when fishing on the top.
  7. hayfields at Doncaster. If so, whats it fishing like? What baits are doing well? Thanks.
  8. Im thinking of experimenting with braid hooklengths. At the moment, all my hooklengths are tied using preston powerline. I use eyed hooks (Preston PR27's) tied with a knotless knot and a loop to attach to the mainline (usually via a swivel). Is there any disadvantage to using braid? do i need to use any different knots?. Cheers, D.
  9. Ive had stuff from them before and its been ok.
  10. I have a Brilo bosx which is very well built and i love it. If your river fishing, i woud strongly suggest getting a Penrose XL barrow. The barrow can also be used as a platform with various attachments and makes a great staging for your box to sit on.
  11. Ive never fished boddingtons but im actually fishing it next weekend. The club im with fished it last year but unfortunately i had to miss it. Fished Clattercoates last Tuesday and weighed in 111lb !! and to all accounts, boddingtons is better. So cant wait. There are the three lakes in very close proximity, Clattercoates, Boddingtons and Drayton and they are all excellent.

    in the eye!

2 Parrots sat on a perch.....one turns to the other and says "can you smell fish?" the oldies are the best
  13. Its a cracking water to all accounts.....you probably want to fish 11mm pellets with some pretty beefy tackle, expect to catch all day long and dont let go of your rod for a minute!!
  14. Ooops, ive got the matchman one.
  15. I use the drennan hook tyer and my turns go the same way but the knots are sound, ive never had one give yet!
  16. Some tackle shops seem to have a bin full of sections from all sorts of poles. the best thing to do is take your section (or 2) and just go have a rummage, they can generally be picked up quite cheaply.
  17. Cant waitto get down to the river, so far I havent had the chance!. Im gonna try and steal a few hours tonight after work....please please please fish be biting!. If all goes as planned, I should be ok for a few chub and some grayling....lets hope theyve grown a bit. [ 18. June 2004, 09:16 AM: Message edited by: dizidave ]
  18. We have to give our club a photo copy of our license before we can fish the first match of the season. Very sensible idea being as the club can be fined if one of its members is caught.
  19. Do you think well see a hike in prices then?
  20. sweetcorn (3 peices) - 12 10mm meat cube - 14 (hair) 15mm meat cube - 12 (hair) lobwom - 8/10 maggot(3 or 4) - 16 10mm pellet - 14 (hair) decidedly smaller than the replies so far but im a match angler rather than a specimen hunter.
  21. I cant beleive theres only that many licensed anglers?! Surely its more.
  22. I was fishing with artificial corn on the top on Sunday and it worked a treat....no worries about it coming off the hook and you can see it great. Combine it with frozen sweetcorn (ie. so it floats) and i reckon your on a winner.
  23. No, Thats a Quarter Pounder
  24. Single maggot on a 14 hook?! Wow, im surprised you got any bites at all. i feel 'guilty' when i put a single maggot on an 18.
