You may not realise,but there are loads of waters within 45 mins of your area if carping is of any interest.Selby 3 lakes,Sally Walsh's Dam,and in EAst Yorkshire there are some really good waters,one I fish whenever possible is near a place called Driffield(about 35 mins from you) Known as 'Emmotland Ponds'...30 twenty plus carp in under 3 acres of water!!!!I can thouroughly reccomend this place and have had some good sessions on here.Give Ron a ring to book on and try and get peg 4 or 3 (only 6 pegs on the place)...01262 488226.

Also,your local decent tackle shop should stock the Beekay guide to waters 2000 which has every water in GB,France, etc,with phone numbers and lake descriptions.It would be rude not to read this book!!!
