Hey all, newbie here from the SW. I used to live on the isle of wight and did a bit of sea fishing there (quite unsuccessfully) although I do have one story of 'the one that got away' which i'd like to think was a whopper.

To sum it up briefly:

Night fishing out the back of the island in a spot known for congers. Using a small pollock as live bait. Rod suddenly went off the rod stand and started heading seawards. I picked it up and felt quite a lot of resistance then it let go. I reeled it in and the hook was gone. The line wasn't curled as though the knot had slipped. I like to tell myself it was something huge but probably not  .

Anyway, looking to get into some fly fishing so I thought i'd come here for a bit of info and friendly banter

cheers

Welcome to Anglers' Net. We have info in abundance and a fair old bit of banter as well.
