Ultimate Treble Hook

The barb is on the outside and not the inside of the hook and makes un-hooking as easy as a barbless hook. However when a fish is hooked it stays hooked, baits stay on and the small barb prevents the hook penetrating too deep.

My supply of these has now run low and I would be pleased to hear where they can be purchased.

Alan.

Does now.

You'd think at my advanced age (who said old) I'd be able to spell "fishing"?

Cheers, Alan.

What are the pros and cons of this hook? It looks interesting.

The trebles Barry was enquiring about are Partridge outpoints. They are fine wire hooks, but are much stronger than their appearance would seem to suggest. If you feel the need to use something heavier, they also produce a low-water salmon fly treble.

English as tuppence, changing yet changeless as canal water, nestling in green nowhere, armoured and effete, bold flag-bearer, lotus-fed Miss Havishambling, opsimath and eremite, feudal, still reactionary, Rawlinson End.

Steve, firstly they are a very strong hook and I have taken some big hard fighting fish at close quarters on them. Secondly the bait either alive or dead hooks up well even when lightly nicked. Thirdly and most importantly they un-hook very easily and cleanly especially on the odd occaision when a fish is deeply hooked.

Cheers Alan, it's the easy unhooking that appeals as you've probably guessed. Anything that gets the fish back quickly is worth investigating.

Is it the outpoint that helps with fast unhooking do you think?

Piker,

You may also want to take a look at the Bleeding Bait treble hooks from Daiichi. These hooks give your bait the illusion that it is bleeding. It is proven that baits that appear to be bleeding will out perform other lures.
