Which Whip + General Questions

When i started out fishing i used those £10 quid whips you get from the tackle shop, i can't remember how long they were but for fishing for small stuff close in they were great! I don't use it hardly ever any more but when i'm in a hurry or just lazy i do because of the sheer simpleness and easy set up you get with them.

As famous fisherman John Gierach once said "I used to like fishing because I thought it had some larger significance. Now I like fishing because it's the one thing I can think of that probably doesn't."

Lad? Fair enough...

God knows, i didn't use top kits! Simple rig with a loop in it that i threaded through a metal ring on the end. Nothing fancy! No elastic or pole cups or top kits hahaha.

It was great for lifting small fish in all day but wouldn't cope with any fish over a pound or two!!

I doubt whether you could add a Pole top kit to a decent whip as they are totally different beasts.

A decent whip has a much finer blank than the average Pole, plus the pole 'top three' or 'top two' sections are elasticated and as I said before a decent whip has a fine responsive tip and is not elasticated at all.

Happiness is Fish shaped (it used to be woman shaped but the wife is getting on a bit now)
