Fish guts etc

Anyone see that documentary on sharks last night? Not sure which channel it was ...

Seems that sharks have very short digestive tracts, and that only the sludgy residues of digestion get passed in the normal way through the anus.

There's not enough time for the big stuff - like the bones of its prey - to be digested and it builds up until the shark eventually regurgitates a load of this accumulated stuff.

Brief research (i.e. google ) suggests that carnivorous fish tend to be similar to the shark, i.e. have a short interstine.

Given the wide throats of most fish, perhaps this means we shouldn't worry overmuch about pike swallowing pop-up materials etc? They'll just puke it up eventually?

Disappointingly, it seems that while a Great White might chew on a human for lunch, they then spit us out as 'not oily enough'

Bleeding heart liberal pinko, with bacon on top.
