River Trent, Notts

Recommended Posts

Afternoon all,

I'm going up to Nott'm this weekend & am looking to have a session on the Trent below Beeston Weir or maybe Clifton Grove.

Anyone know how it's fishing this year??

Any info much appreciated.

Thanks,

Simon.

I'll probably kick off on the feeder hemp/caster, hopefully find the chub & a barbel or two would be a bonus.

Had some superb roach on the stick there last year, I'll give that a try later on.

Cheers.

hi simon,

your tactics seem right,i have fished it a few times recently i have had some good barbel on luncheon and cheese, but no chub, fish were being caught all around me including a barbel of 9lb on cheese i always fish the clifton side of the weir.on the bend just down from the weir there is a back water with a sand island known as cherry island, there are some big carp knocking around there i have seen some upper twentys landed from there in the past, also good for pike there, as is the back water next to the weir.the river was running very low and clear but this rain will do it some good.

tight lines (MM) :D:D
