Hooking Hemp

Can some one please tell me how to hook hemp properly as it always comes off the hook or as a hook it all the insides come out :confused: .

Hi Billy,

Pick a seed that has not opened very much. Then squeeze it so the split opens a little and shove your hook in, it should then grip the hook.

 

It's a bit like a putting a split tennis ball on your nose :)

 

You could also try using Tares as your hookbait while feeding Hemp, it's a great combination and tares are much easier to put on the hook.

Get a thin baiting needle or an ordinary sewing needle araldited to an old pole float and pierce the shell at the bottom where the stalk was attached. You can now push a hook point through the hole and back out through the split and the seed will stay on for several fish.

Method 2 involves preparing seeds at home as before and then threading a fine line through the hole and out through the split. Tie the line tight and when fishing, you simply pass your hook under the line.
