Distance between lines?

HI folks,

A question to the matchmen maybe?

what is the minimum distance you would have between two or more lines when fishing a canal (Irish canals)?

At what stage do two lines "contaminate" each other and fish can move from one to the other and back again?

Is there any benefit of keeping a feeding line well away from your main fishing spot for dry spells during a match?

Enough to keep you thinking there for a while I hope.
