Specimen Carp Fishing Forum

It's the old chestnut again smile.gif

I am now of the belief that a specimen carp fishing forum would benefit this site. With the likes of Jim Gibbinson writing for AN, I dare say we get quite a few visits from carp anglers, who are then put off by the heavy lean towards river fishing in this forum. (Okay, let's not get pedantic and talk about river carp, etc. - you all know what I'm getting at smile.gif)

Now, I could just go ahead and do it, but that's not the way I work. I'd like to hear from people who are for the idea, and any constructive arguments against.

Over to you, people....it's your site,

Elton

Go for it Elton.

As a carp man myself i think it would be a great forum not only for the carp anglers out there but some of the carp anglers could also learn a bit from the match men aswell if they decide to post on the carp forum.

I'm not so sure about this....people who pursue species other than carp can learn a lot from the carp anglers, and vice versa. So from that point of view I would rather just see a coarse list. This would also be of benefit to those people who fish for all species, just one forum to visit, and the potential for the transfer of ideas between the different species anglers is kept.

Must admit though, re your statement about this being a river biased forum, I haven't noticed this in the time I've been participating !

Regards,

Paul

Hi Elton

Why not ? If it give the site more exposure and reasons for more people to visit, interact, give ideas, learn ideas. After all if you are not interested in carp fishing all you have to do is not visit that forum surely !

Cheers

Andy

Do it, there's nothing to stop others contributing and reading it, but it will keep these matters together and, to be honest, they often seem a world away from my normal fishing (not that I don't like catching carp etc> )

Hi Elton, I am quite happy with the way things are and pick up some useful info from coarse anglers that help me with my carp fishing. You nearly went down this road before but did'nt (thank heaven) IMHO.

Unless Mr Gibbinson is going to be available to answer topics the way that DB did on the sea section, I can't see the point of having a seperate forum. When you tell us that there is a new article from a well respected angler like Mr Gibbinson, then I go to articles and read it.

Can you remember why you did'nt do it before, I can't?

I suppose you could give it a go and see how much support it gets.

What ever you decide to do, you know that you have my full support especially if my Turbot turns up on the gallery. tongue.gif

Decisions, who would own a web site that was in ther right mind smile.gif

Hi Elton,

As a carp angler first and foremost, when I look through the menu I first read the topics on Carp fishing and then read the other topics that interest me. There is no great task in clicking on or off something you like or dislike. I for one would love to see a section for Carp and would look forward to reading the views on topics from the more well known.

I for one I'm 'agin' it! Then again I'd happily have NO specialist forums at all - I believe we can all learn from each other game, sea, coarse the lot!! Where would it end? - barbel forum, match forum, roach forum, gudgeon..........

But if it's gonna bring more hits to your site - well its a no brainer wink.gif

Chris

I feel that there are enough specialist Carp sites about, I know its an old adage that we are all anglers and should try to remain together in one group, but in a recent instance involving the loony Webster woman it really did prove that we are far more powerful when united.

If it is needed to keep up the hit rate on the site I suppose it will have to come, but I for one would rather it did`nt.

Elton,

I think it may be a good idea and would make it easier to find stuff and probably get more members. However I know that I'd probably not visit the coarse forum very often and I think that would be a shame. Sure I can try and look at it but I don't on other mixed sites and I imagine it would be quicker not to - I'm lazy at heart.

Rob.
