Tackle lift as described by Peter Waller

On http://www.predator-fishing.co.uk, in the articles 'Summer piking on the Norfolk Broads' and 'Little Things', Peter Waller describes the use of a tackle lift. Whilst I understand the principles of this I am not sure how you would/should incorporate one into a pike rig. I believe this device would be ideal for a spot on Windermere that I fish using leger tactics from the bank. This spot has an extremely deep shelf which always causes me problems. Could anyone enlighten me further of a rig that this can be used with and how to incorporate it.

Kind regards, Mick

Hi Mick,

The link you posted doesn't appear to work... but the "tackle lift" sounds very similar to a technique employed by Leon Hoogendjick (Sp?) and others on the huge French waters.....

Fishing at extreme range over sunken forests it was obviously very important to keep the line from sinking into the snags... What he did was attach 2 or 3 ping pong balls at intervals along the length of the line.... found it very successful apparently.......

Mick,

Ok, just had a look at the articles in question and yep...I really did get the wrong end of the stick! biggrin.gif

The Tackle Lift as described by Peter in his article sounds ideal for your purposes but could I also suggest that you use riser leads....?

As you may already know, riser leads are shaped a bit like stealth bombers, their shape enables them to come to the surface very quickly....

Thanks, for the idea. Think I am best messing about with them to get the right rig.

I'll certainly look at the riser leads though.

Cheer, Mick
