Can anyone help with this one - and no, Frank's not a relative of mine (I think, although I do have relatives that way!!):

My name is FranK Murphy and I am trying in to find out if the River Weaver near Northwich, Cheshire is open to fishing now after the Foot and Mouth outbreak.  If you can't could you please give me some sites where I may be able to find out.

the local council will have a better idea than most of what's closed down and what isn't.

Some clubs still have voluntary closures, though, Keith, and the councils won't necessarily know about these, so anglers input is much appreciated.

True, but I figure that if the council can say "yes that whole area is still closed", then it would make club responses to F&M academic, and answer the question straight away.

 

Aside from that, it's local tackle shops.

Try the warrington Anglers web site they have a lot of waters in Cheshire.
