Read Dave Lanes` book and he mentions garlic oil alot for carp. Bait`s don`t seem to discriminate that much. Anyone had bream with the stuff in a mix?

Had bream on Garlic Sausage whilst barbelling. I think that counts !

Realdeal,

Garlic powder is in my opinion far superior as a bait additive than the oil.

Not Garlic Salt as sold in supermarkets but pure Garlic Powder.

Two teaspoons in either base mix or groundbait per 1lb is about right.

Garlic Salt for me (or else garlic powder and some non-iodized salt) seems to work well when I want to cause a bait to dry and toughen a bit. Otherwise, the powder is great. Most US species seem to think highly of it.

One bait you might want to try is chicken livers cured with garlic salt to toughen them. Species here which bite well on lobworms will often bite even better on livers cured this way. The garlic salt and some sun (or food dehydrator) treatment makes it so you can keep a small piece of the liver on a hook.

Will happily provide prep. instructions if anyone wants - either in this thread or by email.
