Join the LAS, there are a couple of competitions each year and a few more fish-ins where there are prizes for the winning. As well as a quarterly magazine and local chapters who organise their own events.

They are usually organised as a "walk off". All the entrants names go in a hat and when your name is pulled you walk to where you want to try and start fishing. People generally stick to their first spot for about an hour, as that's when you're most likely to catch, then wander off and find somewhere else to try. After the first couple of moves you are generally fishing second hand water, but matches have been won from there. He who casts furthest covers the most water!
