When I was a kid - I could never see the point of spade ends - i couldnt see how the hell they would ever hold a hook against a large carp etc. However when I found the magic of a hooktyer - it took paticence and a few goes to get it right mind and now I will always use spade ends - done right it is at least as good if not superior to a eyed hook, but the biggest difference is the presentation of bait - on spade ends it is superior!
