Can you turn a normal 7ft rod upside down (ring pointing skywards) if you want to use with a multiplier?

 

Was thinking of giving the Spinflex 1.5tc a go with one of my abu's.

 

I realise it's not a sturdy enough rod for continual use in this fashion...but was just thinking of giving it a go until I buy a proper baitcasting rod.

You can and while it certainly won't harm the rod blank, it will perform poorly at best.

- rings are on the wrong side of the spine

- rings are the wrong size and spacing

- rod action is almost certainly all wrong

 

A likely result would be to put you off baitcasting
