Having a nightmare

I'm having a realy bad spell on the fishing at the moment.I've fished al over Somerset in the last couple of weeks and not done well, so yesterday i thought i'd go to my favourite bit of river on the river Yeo at Long Load.

I got there only to see loads of dead fish everywhere.I rang the EA and they were aware of it(it happened on Sunday)

Most of the dead fish were roach/perch upto about 12ozs but i did see 1 big common of 20 lb plus.

My question is,I know there are alot of pike, bream and chub in this stretch but i did'nt see 1 dead one.Are these fish more likely to have survived than roach/perch?

As for the cause, one bloke i spoke to reckoned it could have been kids that had thrown in one of the foot & mouth foot dips.Is that likely to kill so many fish?(about half a mile of river)

Cheers.Howard.

Yes foot and mouth dip could kill a lot of fish, also putting washing powder in the top of the river will kill fish to a great extent,i know this as i work on a farm which also deals with wild life, through its own game keeper to which most of the time i am with, also pike can swim faster than the other fish, and have been caught in brooks, close to where i work, the washing powder is a thing that poachers use it even works in lakes,
