Barbel Feeder Fishing?

Hello all oyu anglers i was wondering i went fishing awhiule ago iwth my friend and his dad and caught a few barbel but me and my friend joe didn't set up our rigs we now we used maggot feeders and hair rigged luncheon meat but we would like to now how much line to have from line to feeder from knot and how much line from knot to hook thnaks and we know how to tie hair rigs

I think from your question you were fishing a paternoster stlye rig

I would suggest as a general rule a leger link of 5-10inches and a hooklenth approximately double that

Use a longer hooklength if the barbel are being shy or shorter if they are feeding well
