  4. Thanks for that nice link. It looks like there siberian sturgeon by the pictures (your right they were sold as sterlets ) Why dont they tell you they grow that big when you buy them? It is a fairly big pond there in estimated 3-4000 gallons but if they keep growing they will have too go. ANYONE FOR CAVIAR?
  5. Wow a 67 year old junior member. Thats almost as funny as my last trip to America, when my father got asked for ID (proof of age) to buy beer and he's not far from your age But seriously I think that your classed as a junior member untill youve got 10 posts to your name (but dont quote me on that)
  6. Thankyou Judley When they were put in i thought i would never see them (being a dark colour) and they would just hug the bottom of the pond, but there amongst the friendliest in there. Alway first at feeding time and boy do they eat a lot. I certainly hope there not diamond sturgeon, then again it would be funny having a fish over 8 feet long in my pond
  7. Anyone got any experience keeping Sterlets? I bought 2 Sterlets about 8 years ago at around 3inches long, well the problem is they just keep on growing The larger of the two has reached nearly 3 feet long and im starting to think its too big for the pond. How big will they grow in a pond? Will they stop growing when they reach the maximum size for the pond as the koi in there seem to have done?
  8. Just do what I do when my computer goes wrong HIT IT

  12. Thanks for all the helpfull advice everyone. I doubt ill really get enough time to figure out the 'bass time table' fully though i suppose if i keep a diary that will come with time. Doubt very much if plugs/lures will work well round here in our chocolate brown coloured water Thanks again
  13. Maybe you should copy what there doing
  14. Im fairly new to sea fishing the only type i've done is for cod and whiting. I need some help fishing for bass in the region of Bridlinton to Mablethorpe any advice welcome, baits, rigs, some good places etc. Are they mainly a summer fish or can you catch them all year round.
  15. By the way welcome to AN Bream supposedly dont like food going in over there heads when there feeding maybe try baiting up heavily then resting your peg a while. Which resevoir are you fishing maybe someone else here knows the place and can help better. We really are a helpfull bunch here or at least we try [ 22. 16. Just a few things to think about it might help Are you feeding enough bait to keep these 'huge bream shoals' in your swim? They can really get through some bait especially groundbait. If you feel your spooking the fish you could try a baited up area a few yards further than where your fishing to hold the main shoal whilst your picking off the straglers You say your missing bites try sitting on your hands and waiting for your tip to go right round. The little bites could be the smaller fish (which you say theres a lot of) pecking at the bait. Ive never tried fake corn but its worth a try.
  17. I would suggest unless your a relatively experienced angler you'd be better off fishing during daylight hours its far easier and kinder to any fish you do catch (unhooking problems etc) not to mention the fact that you dont know which direction there running I know ive been there Bream are well know for feeding better at night, while some other species can tend to go dormant untill dawn. starlights are usefull for night fishing heres a picture of them so are these headlamps or simmilar
  18. never had any problems with flys hatching especially when the maggots escape from the box in my car they seem to hatch for weeks Did you get them as casters which were treated with preservative to stop them turning ?

I think a little more information is required as its an awfully long river ie tidal/non tidal Are u only looking for a day ticket stretch??? We can point u in the right direction but we are not giving you our best swims
  20. A simple answer---- No ---- Some of the places I fish are that hard to catch fish. I think i must be totally INSANE for even bothering!!! Its the unpredictabily and variation that keeps me going back for more
  21. Congratulations rabbit had plenty of nines but no ten myself, look forward to seeing the picture
  22. I think from your question you were fishing a paternoster stlye rig I would suggest as a general rule a leger link of 5-10inches and a hooklenth approximately double that Use a longer hooklength if the barbel are being shy or shorter if they are feeding well heres some more feeder rigs you might want to try web page
  23. Just put in expander pellets, cover with water and pump. The air should be forced out making the pellets sink
