Three children savaged by dogs

9:25pm Thursday, 16th May 2002

Three young children are in hospital after being repeatedly savaged by two dogs.

One five-year-old girl is seriously ill and is to be transferred to a plastic surgery unit after the attack in Wolverhampton.

A three-year-old, another five-year-old and an adult suffered multiple bite wounds from the two Bull Mastiff-Staffordshire Bull terrier-cross dogs, police said.

The dogs' owner has been found and the animals sedated before being destroyed.

Police were called to Hawksford Crescent, Low Hill, around 4.30pm this afternoon to find four victims suffering from numerous injuries.

A West Midlands police spokesman said the injured were all taken to the city's New Cross hospital.

The most seriously injured, the five-year-old girl, was expected to be transferred to Selly Oak hospital in Birmingham for specialist treatment.

She sustained horrific wounds to her leg, groin and arm.
