The brave Heron

Out doing a little pike lure fishing last night and just as I had cast my salmo slider a Heron appears from the corner of my eye ready to dive on my lure.

 

As I reeled in as quickly as i could it followed my lure until it was no more than 8ft away (length of the rod)

 

The damn thing just hovered above me thinking what to do then decide to give it a miss and went over the far bank. It later came back over and I could only get within 20ft of it and managed to get a few shots

 

I tried to get a few of it in flight close in but i guess i need more practice at action shots they just turned out blurred.
