Caper Box

I collected my shiny new Caper from Nucleus Watersports (Clacton) today - being a member of the British Canoe Union I got a 10% discount, very handy! Now I need to locate a suitable box or crate for the rear storage well. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here's a link to my fittings list, I've got a Coleman Cooler on the back of my Caper, fits perfectly in the hole, alternatively might be worth looking into using a Soft Cool Bag, a little more convenient and lighter.

Have fun with the Caper, don't be in a hurry to kit it out, you'll change your mind about things everytime you go fishing. :)

Hi Steve

I use a rigid cool box which I bought from a local hardware shop, which fits in the well with room for a few other bits and bobs of tackle.

Just a reminder though everything you put in the after well will get wet!

Wilkos do a fold down crate that is the exact dimensions of the well on the P13 - I don't know if it fits the Caper. They are about £2 - £3.

Otherwise, as others have said, use a coolbox / bag. My coolbox fits the crate too - so I can mix and match!

A crate gives you extra area to attach things - because it is supported you can strap stuff to the outside. StarvinMarvin has got his light staff mounted on his and bait cutting board etc. Handy for attaching things. A soft bag doesn't have this.

However, the more I fiddle with stuff the more I leave behind. I am going back, slowly, to the simple expedient of jsut taking a few bits and not overloading myself with gizmos. Salesmen everywhere have put a price on my head!

You would do well to have rod leashes though - a bit of 3mm shotcord is fine. It is used to mend tent poles and you can get it from any camping shop. I have tied a spring clip on one end and just tie the other on to an eyebolt or saddle eye on the yak convenient to the rod.

Cheers,

simon.
