SUN 8th JAN 2006

 

Sundays match was fished on a small flooding tide with a dieing easterly sea swell in the water. On a night when fish were difficult to locate for some, Dennis Thompson used his years of experience to take first place with 7 fish for 15 pounds. Paul Kilpatrick came in second with 2 fish for 6 pounds 4 ounces the biggest of which a cod of 5 pounds 12 ounces is the heaviest fish of the month to date.

 

Results: 1st D Thompson 15 pounds 0 ounces, 2nd P Kilpatrick 6-4(2), 3rd W Atkinson 5-8(3), P Hoy 3-14(1), G Kilpatrick 2-15(3), A Cass 2-14(4), Dan Craig jnr 1-10(2), R Allison 1-7(2), C Stoanethorpe 1-7(3), J Gilpin 1-3(2), A Kelly 0-14(1), G Middlemass 0-13(1), B Harland 0-11(1), Dave Smith jnr 0-10(1), B Vasey 0-9(1), M Vasey 0-6(1),

Whilst out pleasure fishing on Friday night, Whitby club member Mike Vasey caught a fine cod of 8 pounds 15 ounces which now takes the lead in the club competition for the heaviest fish outside of a club match. Mike's fish went 10 ounces better than the previous best which was an 8 pounds 5 cod caught by Paul Kilpatrick back in November.

 

WED 4th JAN 2006

 

Members of the Whitby sea angling club were met by calm conditions on their return after the Christmas mid season break. The majority of anglers again headed onto the beaches in search of whiting. Glenn Kilpatrick won the match with 17 whitings for11 pounds 1 ounces. Out of the handful of anglers who persevered on the rocks Paddy Hoy showed great skill to land the nights only codling weighing 1 pounds 12 ounces.
