Whitby sea anglers had the opportunity to fish 1 of 2 matches yesterday to count towards the club aggregate weight. Anglers could either fish the Ship Inn Sweepstake which ran from 2pm to 8pm weigh in by 9pm or could fish a club match from 4pm to 10pm weigh in by 10.15pm. Anglers could not fish both matches. Results to count towards club weights were as follows:

G Kilpatrick 8-02 (12 Whitings), P Kilpatrick 7-4(2 - 1 cod 1 rockling), B Harland 2-4(3 - 2 flounders and 1 billet), D Waters jnr 1-4(2), W Atkinson 1-1(1), A Kelly 0-11(1), D Thompson 0-10(1), M Vasey 0-7(1), J Gilpin 0-6(1), Dan Smith jnr 0-5(1)

I hope to get a report for the Ship Inn Sweepstake from Paul soon.

Anglers fished a big ebbing tide with a slight long distance northerly swell in the water. William Atkinson won the match with 3 codlings and 1 billet weighing 6 pounds 3 ounces in total. Paul Kilpatrick continued his recent good run taking second place with 1 fish of 5 pounds 7 ounces. Dennis Thompson came in third with 1 fish weighing 4 pounds 15 ounces. It was an eventful night for club angler Paddy Hoy who snapped a fish off whilst pulling it up the cliff he had chosen to fish from. Not happy with his loss Paddy decided to climb down the cliff and retrieve the fish from the bottom.

Results: 1st W Atkinson 6-3(4), 2nd P Kilpatrick 5-7(1), 3rd D Thompson 4-15(1), G Kilpatrick 4-12(8), P Hoy 4-6(1), B Harland 2-5(2), C Stainthorpe 1-15(1), B Vasey 1-0(2), A Cass 0-13(1), P Mead 0-9(1), A Kelly 0-9(1).
