Don't know Baggy Point but as its a point could be a strong tide pull round there? Either way first time out best to go on neaps with settled weather and find out the direction and strength of currents beforehand. Worth finding get out points further along the coastline (trolley on kayak will come in handy if its comes to this!). Good luck.

Kishkash, the depth is about 60-65ft on medium tide with rough ground reef. The tide flow is strong especially on incoming.About quarter to half mile east there is a strong upwelling current which could be treacherous for kayak. It may be better to try a neap first with a buddy as backup.

I recently paddled to Lundy from Ifracombe in one of those "epoxy sea kayaks", mentioned.

I would advise that you buddy up and take care, as the tide flow is extreme so much so that it will carry you either well towards Bristol or Ireland an hour or so either side of the high / low tide.

Once you get out past the headlands the overflows cause some big waves, these calm down probably around 1/2k out, but if you go out on high or low tide these will be relatively small.

Have fun.
