sorry if i'm being a pain with asking about spots and cheers for advice on the teignmouth thread.

i've been looking at the wind on the weekend and with a NE wind may have a look at torquay for a bit of shelter, can anyone give any advice on the area and what can be caught at the moment

cheers

john

Catch and Release fishing is a lot like golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time.

Hi John! I have fished the Torquay area every summer for the last 5 years. At this time of the year the mackerel and the Pollock should start showing. It is a bit early for the mullet and the bass. You will have a big problem with finding a good spot to launch from in Torquay, because there are no suitable places to park you car close to the beach. If you park by the sea front for more than 2 hours you will get a £60 fine. It is much more convenient to launch from Babbacombe Pier, Goodrington Promenade or Brixham. In Brixham the car park by the breakwater is right next to a shingle beech ideal for launching a kayak. From there you can fish easily the deep waters close to shore around the Brixham sea wall and Berry Head (a mile to the south of there). Mackerel is showing already in Brixham.

If you decide to fish around the Torquay's Princess Pier, be very careful, the boat traffic is very heavy with lots of unconsidered jet riders.

For the details on the marks in the area check these sites:

hi john

your best bet is to launch at meadfoot beach, there's a nice slipway and if you get there early there is FREE all day parking on the road, there are plenty of places to fish, thatchers rock, around towards torquay harbour you have thunder hole, or paddle out to hopes nose, fish 200/300yds off the point you'll catch allsorts, i had several mackerel last week

cheers

jon

ps, may see you out there myself
