gulp baits

Hiya,

I always thought they were a gimick , but last year fishing with Davy Holt one evening Davy put one on(the plain sandeel type) , the rest of us were using normal artificials he hammered us that evening probably 8-1. The next day I was the only one fishing them with the same result everyone else struggled.

Was fishing them really slow, there is definitely something in the coating that fish like, I just dropped one down the side of the slipway and it was soon swarmed by small coalies and pollack.

As a static bait not sure how confident i would be but spun slowly for pollack they definitely work.

It was two evenings in a row that I done it, and they totally out fished normal jellies, live rag & mackerel strip, in fact I seem to remember a fight over the last few sand eels :)

Did you not also get a Sea Trout on that one when you were playing at the slip ?

Davy

I tried a pack for the first time last night -- forget the model number but it was the white-cat imitation, large size.

Fished from St. Catherines pier onthe turn of the mid night tide -- real light gear - on a float bait set to about 6ft.

It was like free Meth to a smack head -- every two minute the pollack where hammering them -- I don't mean biting, I mean gut set hooks not on the lip. A full pack lasted but 15 mins.

I am always dubious of artificial baits but I stopped at my dealer (tackle, not meth :) ) on my way to town this morning and grabbed a couple more packs just to have in the tackle box for as and when.

I am keen to see how the will perform as a bottom bait bu not holding my breath there but from the float they were deadly.

I would gladly recommend them.

Have fun all.
