Pole elastic

Recommended Posts

All,

I am due to replace my pole elastic any time soon and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good brand/type/supplier

I normally have a low elastic in one top (probably an 8) and a slightly larger elastic in the other (maybe a 14/16)

I hav eheard of the new dual core stuff but wasnt so sure so any ideas welcome

Thanks

Hey Matt

I use middy hi viz in my power kits its solid elastic I use one 8-10 and one 12-14 and then 18-20 in my margin pole. For my match tops I use map latex in six usually i, this stuff is unbreakable I have landed 12lb carp on it and it is also light enough for anything. I use it in conection with a preston pulla kit although they now sell the pulla bungs which are just as good (they help when landing bigger fish due to you being able to pull out elastic to tighten the tension and allow less elastic so that you can get a landing net to the lumps).

I do not get on with hollw core, it is a lot more stretchy and i feel less in control when playing fish as it seems to bounce when a fish runs.

Hope this helps

Matt

I hadnt even thought of an elastic for the margins

its worth bearing in mind you'll probably catch larger fish in the margins and you need control over them straight away, otherwise you'll be in all kinds of trouble with pole rigs all over the bank vegitation.

i use middy 14-16 and 18-20 for margin use. It depends on the water (the size of the fish in it and the area you are fishing) if it is snaggy you need as strong as possible so that not too much elastic flies out of the pole when you are bringing the pole around, you might hear it being called hit and hold!!
