Dec 2023 Florida Daytona New Smyrna Beach Orlando

Recommended Posts

Winter fishing patterns are only around for a couple months here in East Central Florida, water temperatures drop in December, the fish and wildlife settle in for winter after all year of warm Florida, most fish school up together into bigger congregations in the deeper channels and holes, on a cloudy chilly day, some of the fish stay deep where to water temp stays stable, on a sunny winter day, some of the fish will come shallower, some up to the fringes of the deep spots, on the lagoon schools of Reds, Trout, Drum, Mullet go on to the flats where sun shine raises water temps a few degrees. Our inshore intracoastal water is the clearest of the year in winter, with visibility of 5 feet or even more during cold periods. Seeing the bottom here in many feet of water allows for learning whats down there as the water is more cloudy most all of the year. Redfish and Black Drum are a couple of our usual winter catches, young Everett here visiting from Texas on a family trip with me recently caught and released the best Drum of the trip …………
