It's been a while...

It seems like ages since I wrote on here so I thought I'd get back up to date.  To be honest the reason for not posting has mostly been a run of what I'm calling bad luck but in reality has been due to complete incompetence.
I've had only one proper session back on that little stalking pool during which I managed 4 up to 13-14lbs or so.  ...

A bit of everything.

A few more pics to share... firstly from another quick evening fly fishing with my work mate on the commercial.  We had approx 12 fish each in under 2 hours, these being the best 2.

More stalking the forgotten ones.

8th August - Shh
So I managed to secure a ticket on the water that featured in my last blog and thought it was about time I christened my new rod so I popped down there to fish the afternoon into the evening.
As before I baited a good number of likely looking spots with soaked pellet, corn and a few chops and fished them in rotation judging by what I'd...

Carp on the pin.

Posted by tomhaggett , 07 August 2013 · 227 views

Since my last blog I've been back to the little commercial catching the carp on flies a few times.  To be honest it's too easy and becomes rather boring after an hour or two.  The average size seems to get better the later into the evening it gets.  The last session for example produced a fair number of doubles to the 4 of us and one of jus...

Carp on the fly

24th July, Hampshire Commercial
As the title suggests I decided to try my hand at something a little different after some persuasion from a mate.  We arranged to meet after work at a commercial venue neither of us had fished.  I didn't manage to get there until 7, by which time he'd been waiting an hour but had caught a few rudd on the...

Catch up

Posted by tomhaggett , 11 July 2013 · 315 views

I've been so busy recently I haven't been able to update my entries.  What with 5 mental days at Glastonbury and constant work I've had no time to fish so my only updates are from a couple of quick 20 hour sessions that I've managed to squeeze in.
23rd May - Berkshire club lake.
I'd planned this session to try out my new 11' 2 1/4lb sm...

Back with a bang.

24th-25th April - Berkshire Lake
As I've mentioned previously I'd become disillusioned with the carp scene towards the back end of last year and thus hadn't been since early December.
I hadn't really missed it much at all, but I did notice the carp at work becoming far more active every day.  Add to that a few catch reports t...

Three 2's and a 3.

31st March - K&A Canal
Popped back to the canal with the soft plastics tonight.  It was rather an impromptu trip after unexpectedly getting off from work early but it was certainly worthwhile.
I thought I'd try another new stretch to prevent it getting a little stale, and to give the other stretches a bit of respite.  I m...

29th March - K&A Canal
First entry for a while, it's all been a bit bleak lately.  The couple of half-hearted/hungover sessions I've managed have both drawn blanks, so when I turned up today to find a bloody canoe race in full flow I wasn't exactly hopeful.
It's not really worth fishing when there's 200 competitive, would be sailor...

Cracking end to the season :).

Well, that's it, another seasons over but I'm glad to say I've seen it in with a couple of really good sessions.  This close is going to be one of the most difficult for me I think.  I've really enjoyed being away from the lakes in the past few months and although I can still fish a few bits of canal it's going to be a long 3 months.
