River Kennet - Speen Moors

0800 - 1345

Cool , bright and sunny with a stiff breeze - clouding over for the last hour or so. River in good winter nick - quite pacey with a bit of colour.

7 Chub: 6 over 2lb though only 1 over 3 and that not by much. 7 Roach, 2 Gudgeon and 2 spotties.

Bin a few years since I had that many chub in one visit from this venue. Unusually for me spent the first 4 hours in one swim - which produced all the chub - every time I thought about moving I hooked another fish. In truth I was hoping for something a little bigger - but they gave a great account of themselves in a pacey swim. In fact moving produced not a lot else so I probably should have stayed there the whole day!

A good haul of chub Chris, well done. No monsters but they weren't exactly chublets either! I've only ever caught one or two from that swim (from that venue in fact)

Looks a damn sight better than it did yesterday....tried fishing there but the rod was almost being blown out of my hands, so windy it was scary at times! And getting back through the A34 underpass was a tad nerve-wracking, especially when the water came over the bonnet...don't think my Focus works too well as a submarine!

That swim always used to be a very good chub swim - in facta previous PB was from there a 6lb 5oz fish caught on a day (25/9/04) when I had another 6lber and 2 big 4's as back up fish! (Plus 3 bream over 4lb and a 2lb perch!)
