I'm king of the bumped-fish, but do find I have a better hit-rate with Guru QMI hooks, having done some research. That said, I dropped two carp today, clumsy I know. I've also started sharpening hooks of size 12 and above and, thanks to the advice of our mate Chris, now use microbarbs on the rivers. Good luck with the big boys next time.

I had a few perch yesterday (nothing bigger than a 1lb) and on releasing one in the next swim along, scared off something much bigger that was resting maybe 6 inches from the bank.
