  10. Its weird, i think that spinning rods ae such personal things that you can only truly decide whether its right fo you by fishing with it. The Greys GRX is a big heavy rod, as is the Mike Ladles 11ft'er I use a 9ft 15-32g conolon tournement for thr yak and for plugging from the rocks, its a great general purpose rod. i am looking at getting a very light boat rod though for the yak, something like a 6lb class conoflex pollock rod, any ideas?????
  11. I knew that someone would spot that, I was in the process of unloading it when i took the picture!!!
  12. Back safe and sound, just in time for the force 8 being predicted for the weekend!!! THANKYOU BOURNEMOUTH CANOES!!!
  13. Just had a phonecall from Bournemouth canoes, replacement Prowler is waiting there now for me. less than a week after taking my old one back. Now that is good service!. I know they have 6 in stock now if anyone is thinking of making a purchase!
  14. I have found Greys blanks, particularly the GRX go soft after a couple of seasons. By far the best spinning rods i have ever used are the Abu Conolon range, either the tournement 9ft or the Pro Performance 9ft. They are beautiful rods with lovely blanks and quality stainless double legged guides I paid £64 for the last one (a tournement) from Mainwarings in Swansea
  15. Whoooaa! Hang on there, you mean people actually put their cars in the garage???! I couldnt get a motorbike in mine let alone my trusty Volvo!
  16. I think i know what you mean!! are you slinging the boat through the scupper holes? close ups would be nice but dont go out of your way mate!!!!, nice boat by the way!
  17. Cheers Gedi but what the hell are those winch type things with all the rope going into them in picture 2 and where do i find them
  18. Oh Happy days!!!! Probably gonna go bait fishing somewhere between CAswell and Pwl Du there are some ace reefs there or could go doggie bashing at tLanglands. Lest hope Metcheck are right for once!!!!!
  19. well, she pays half the mortgage and thus i believe has rights to half the garage! I have already taken over 65% of the garage with my fishing gear and now there is a 13'4" plastic orange lump sat across the floor too, i think she has maybe a small reason to moan. If i padlocked the garage she wouldnt be able to get to the lawn mower, the leaf blower, the driveway rake, the dustbins, the recycling boxes or any of the decorating equipment so i could be shooting myself right in the foot by locking her out
  20. Does anyone have any goo ways of EASILY hoisting/winching a prowler 13 up into the roof of my garage. I need to do this to keep the missis happy and stop here tripping over it everytime she goes into the garage!!
  21. agreed, Chris is a top bloke. I looked over a lot of shops selling prowlers and as soon as i went in I thought, Wow, these guys know thier onions, and decided to buy there and then. Lets hope they can pull something out of the bag for me!! Thats where my "bulge" was
  22. Nice one Lazy, My folks live in bishopston on the gower, my first ever trip was in my old mans caper off Caswell and round to Langlands, Fanbloodytastic. I'm going up on wednesday but i think the weather may be a bit crappy to go out and fish!!!!
  23. My new prowler has had to go back after just a week of fun in the sun. I am Gutted. I landed on friday after a good session out off Portland Breakwater when i noticed a nast looking lump on the left hand side of the keel at the front of th eboat. It was about the size of two fists. I thought that the fact that it was pulling to the right all th etime was the fact that i was a crap paddler, but this wont have been helping at all Took it back to Bournemouth Canoes and they were GREAT about it, phoned Johnsons and a replacement should be on its way, but i cant live without it!!!!!!, Anyone else had any probs with the prowler. I hope they dont send a replacement with the new graphics of the fish on the front, I dont like that one!!
  24. Good session then!! Email me at jjhulland@hotmail.com if you want to chat. I think the potential is great for Portland, i know of black and Gilthead Bream being caught at the moment. I think POrtland is going to be a good place for me to cut my teeth as it were in fishing and getting used to the boat.. If you fancy a trip out sometime, then shout!!, I'll be heading over to the purbecks, probably next year now. Thats my usual stomping ground, may be room for you extend your repetoire there!!! Tight lines Jon
