Hi guys, I'm looking at fishing the canal at Bude next week, never fished there before so dont know anything about it, where to park good spots to fish ect, I see there are 2 basins at the start of the canal, are these better spots to fish in winter? also which side of the canal can you fish? Thanks

Has anyone fished the river Fal from a kayak???

Is this true that if you do fall into say a lake or slow moving river in neoprene waders you lift your knees to your chest and paddle backwards you will be ok???

Still looking for my 1st kayak and have been put off buying the Prowler due to its size for my 1st kayak and am now looking at the Wilderness Tarpon 100, anyone own one of these or can recomend one???? the 3m size would be good for sliding into my van and i will be using it for easturies fishing and paddling round the coast on calmish days, I'm 5'7" and 12 stone

Went for a bike ride down Pentire Newquay today and was watching a guy in an inflatable kayak paddling down the Gannel which flows into the sea at Crantock, it was an outgoing tide and you could see the river racing back to the sea and this guy trying to paddle back with no joy at all and it looked like his paddle bent or came loose so he jumped off the yak into the sea with no PFD on and was struggling to to find his feet in the current but then after a while battling he managed to get back in, bet he was cacking it??? oh and i wonder were his straw hat has floated to. Glad I saw this for when I get my first yak, and it wont be an inflatable one and I will wear a PFD.

Was just reading through the flood posts and it brought back memories of when i used to go fishing all over Sheffield by bus or sometimes 2 buses as a kid, i now live in Cornwall but i think when i next visit my family i will have a day on one of my childhood venues, don't know bout Frecheville pond though, maybe Crooks or the Canal, used to love fishing the basin b4 they ruined it, do any of these venues still fish well??? and does any one else have any stories of there best venues when they were kids???

Trouble was they started to employ people with bugger all product knowledge but thought they new it all, still they have some good staff like Steve M, Tom and Howard who are allways happy to help, Howard is now at another Tackle shop, i would love to own my own shop, i would turn it upside down just to find a screw for a customer's reel and look after the kids just like Calcotts used to with me . we should allways go the last mile for the customer.

Bloody Hell!!! I saw a video on the Internet with Bennetts in the background and the old lady trying to wade through the fast flowing flood water and nearly been taken out by an industrial wheely bin, i used to work for Bennetts b4 i moved down Cornwall so this is very sad news for them and Calcotts, can remember the old shop on Ladys bridge, i used to wagg school and go down there when i was a kid thats one of the things i miss about Sheffield is good tackle shops, we have bugger all tackle shops down here, the only good one is Whiteacres down the road from me, dont know if Bennetts will shut down yet but i'm sorry to hear Calcotts will, spent a lot of money and time in that shop and there old one, hope the Town gets back to normal soon. Oh and we wasn't all rude that worked for Bennetts, i used to enjoy chatting with the customers on the phones and in the shop and if they were to open a shop down here i would love to work for them again.

Can anyone recomend a good PFD for fishing in, prob round the 50 quid mark and shops to get one from in Cornwall, i've looked on ebay but not sure what they are like. cheers Andy

After hearing about idiots in speed boats ect blue will be the last colour i'll pick, my life is more important than catching a fish.
