  1. The lake i fish holds Bream to about the same weight, and it's about the same depth. If you are fishing that far out, accuracy in casting to the same place is of paramount importance to concentrate the fish in one spot.Pick yourself a "mark" to aim for like a tree shadow on the water or a feature in the water.I don't find the feeder splashing into the water upsets the fish that much, once the fish get their heads down and start to feed,to me,instinct takes over. All i do is cast the feeder in,let it hit the bottom, give it a couple of minutes, then reel in about 1-2ft of line to "jerk" the feeder into depositing the groundbait and pulling my hookbait onto the layer of groundbait. Then it's just a case of waiting for the tip to swing round. Sounds simple doesn't it.
  2. I fish a few local ponds in my area and to me it seems to be what the fish are used too. At one pond i can use two grains of sweetcorn on a 16 Hair-Rig and catch all day.If i put on an artificial piece of corn the bites stop. At another venue i can fish with the artificial corn and catch fish "pop-up" style, although i do use a cage feeder and groundbaiit. I have tried ringing the changes at most of the ponds where i fish and i now know what will catch and what won't. I think smell has a lot to do with it.How many times do you pick up grains of corn or put your hand in your maggot box to give them a stir. What about eating your sandwiches, all these actions leave a residual smell on your fingers which can be transmitted to your hook-bait.I am not saying that these are the reasons for catching or not catching,it's just something else to think about.
  3. Hi to All, I have just taken up fishing again and the local water where i fish used to be float fished. Now every one use's pole and pellet. The methods i use still catch fish, but not at the rate or size other anglers using the pole do. I don't want to spend money on a pole,as i have never used one i wouldn't know where to start. Basically, what i want to know is,can you fish with pellets on a float rig,if so,what are the best to use and do you have to do anything to them.I know about presentation of bait, shotting patterns and such like.Do you need special hooks or any other type of tackle. Thanks in advance
