Try crushing barbs on lures also.
While this does mean you need to apply more skill and keep constant pressure crushing the barbs allows for easier hook ups and more of them due to the lack of barb. Crushing the barbs also lends to dratically easier hook removal from the fish meaning a quicker release. Quicker hook detanglements in nets, car seats, clothing and girlfriends means your life will be so much better.
Once youve tried this and succeeded youll never turn back.
