  1. it worries me when our beloved leaders say they are going to raise the number of "essential" aliens by 125% (for the good of the country) is it perchance for the whole contents of sangatte ,i think that england has been topped up with ,crooks ,murderers ,war crims ,thugs and other assorted people already so no need for any more ,what other deals are going on under the table ,i expect sangatte will be VERY full when its closed ,to save time maybe whole trains could be chartered for them ,we cant have then clinging on underneath anymore after all with the rail fare increases in the pipeline WE can afford it :D

  2. we see questions on older tackle appearing on the forum more and more (intrepid nudge nudge) and the information generally available on the web is very poor ,how about a collectable or vintage tackle section on AN ,where us collectors or the older members "reliving their youth" could swop info or memories of bits of tackle or enquire about unknown reels or rods etc :D after a time it could become a source of info collected in one place for would be angling historians to draw apon

questions like how many versions of Apollo Taperflashes were there

any info on the italian Cargem reels range

anyone have the nameplate for a silver superb (allcocks) for sale etc etc etc

  3. in this case both the R A and council have failed ,it was mentioned in a tv program ,the owner may be getting a custodial sentence for another non related case (dont you watch the news ) but water and ducks backs etc :D

  4. its not just the breaking strain full stop ,my through action 2lb tc just dont like 15lb line ,in having to "push it" to get the same distance as 10lb the chances of a crack off heighten ,when i pike fish i use 15lb on 3lb tc rods ,this is needed to cast dead baits etc ,i have never used a weight over 1 oz whilst carping and rarely cast more than 50yds ,if i used my pike rods and say 2oz weights ,i`d be forever caught in trees on the other side of the pond :D a balanced outfit is the idea ,and suited to the conditions its used in ,line strenght is not the be all and end all :D

  5. i think the right to roam is another gov spin ,try "roaming" down the footpath ( it is a definitive footpath) that borders that nice mr hoogstraten`s(spelling) land ,youl find the path blocked and friendly chaps ensuring it stays that way ,if the difinitive footpath cannot be crossed ,what chance is there on a unmarked one :D

  6. brain dead not ,at least with most animals what you see is what you get ,very little backstabbing ,hardly ever talk behind your back ,very pleased to see you ,especially if you have a tin in your hand :D i too have had all 3 + a goose we had for 25 years (he did backstab :D ) owl`s ,jackdaws (they did speak behind your back :D ) much prefer animals to humans (except for the wife ofcourse ,animals are a lousy lay :D )

  7. is it like this ?

seemed fairly popular in the seventies (couple of big names advertised it) but i think due to its being over engineered failed to foist the 506 ,made by luxor ,i dont like turning the handle backwards to release the line :D

i have tried the abu range ,best still is the 506 but i have been using the gold max (a little heavy) but due to not being able to get the anti foul band (stops the line going into the cup) it sits waiting for abu to get their act together

  8. seems a lot of money especially for the bits to use it, a sailing rig :D when we first started boat fishing we used to take a couple of 8ft "toy" inflatables to bognor in my scooter and sidecar, fish from them in the day (we used to launch them by holding them infront of us and jumping into the sea from the wall at butlins (my mate then passed all the tackle to me then he jumped :D ,at night we slept on them (in the little triangular green that was infront of the odd selection of caravans and train carriages between butlins and the sailing club) i even put a sail on mine (a square rig one ,ideal for going one way :D ) inexpensive but fun ,we then upgraded to an ex army inflateable with a 8hp engine thats where the fun part started to leave :D

  9. as the local copper said to me ,they get away with anything and we now have "a member" on the village council (with probably more on the way) planning permissions are usually retrospective and any infringements are shrugged of with "probably included in a past planning app" and the hassel of "racial" predudice against THEM,the village is cut of at the outset of these "meetings" (the biggest in europe)there are about 250 "normal" residents ,imagine the influx of 21,000 for 3 days ,luckily were now a bit further away (we used to be in the same less than 6ft road) so its grit your teeth time again and stay indoors ,imagine some muller droning through loudspeakers a 2 am with nothing we can do about it (we have tried) :D

  10. typical open gov ,just been for a stroll and noticed our local "religeous" group is getting ready for their next meeting (last year 21,000 attended )noticed their portaloo`s have been "plumbed" into a large OPEN hole just outside their fence but on their land ,i am sure that you cant just dump human waste willy nilly ,but on the waverley or surrey council website ,there are no mentions of anyone to contact either under health and safety (which seems to be a work related matter) or public health which consists only about air quality or noise  someone must deal with it but who  its bad enough them not having to pay council tax (religeous centre ) but i`m buggered if their going to crap on me aswell :D
