  1. Mate, nice reels. Got a 501, 503, 505 and 2 x 506. Thread your line through the metal cover, tie the line round the spool, screw back the stainless steel cover, replace the metal cover. Make sure the line is coming off the spool in the same direction the reel is turning.
  2. Been looking at the chod rig to understand how its made up. Whether using lead core or not, looking at the mechanics of the rig, is it correct assuming that when you get a fish on, the hook link and lower rubber bead which secure the 'chod' in place will slide down towards the lead ? Thanks.

  4. I've never heard of an Esterberry, but all the fruity flavours seem good for tench. I must admit, I'm a bit partial for ANTBAIT Softees hooker pellets. I was given a few tubs about 2 years ago and they have still kept their shape and smell. At the same time I bought some mainline soft pellets and they've disintegrated as well as Dynamite bait pellets.
  5. What has been your favourite boilie or soft pellet for bream and tench ? Make, size, colour and taste ??
  6. OK mate. When I get the time I'll put together some cracking pictures of some swedish crucians. Plenty of crucians in the dark forest lakes because of the copper content, hence the fish go dark and copper looking.
  7. Hi mate, The report of the ’record’ breaking Crucian Carp appeared in the ’Piteå Tidning’ 4th June, 2009. The fish was caught in Persöfjärden, Norrbotten County which is in the north of Sweden. There was one comment to the news on a fishing forum site that questioned the weight/length as that particular guy said he’d caught a crucian of 2,670gr measuring 47cm. There again, some people argued that the captor might have measured the fish incorrectly (never include the tail) in that case it might have been 57cm. The photographer is the guy below and I’ve tracked down his contact details for you. Photographer; Johan Honkamaa tel: 0046-920-760 05 Mobile: 0046- 70-309 13 51 Alternatively, you can contact the newspaper Ms.Ylva Lindgren (ylva.lindgren@pitea-tidning.se) tel: 0911-645 16. © 2008 Piteå-Tidningen Ansvarig utgivare: Matti Lilja Läs PT som RSSTelefon: 0911 645 00 Fax: 0911 646 40 ” All the best,
  8. Looks like the Korum Precision specialist rods will replace the Korum 3G rods although the 3G are still available. Apart from price, does anyone know the actual difference between the two ? Weight difference ?? I’ll be using mainly for Bream / Tench and perhaps the odd specimen bream.
  9. OK, I ordered a Fox Stratos FS7000. Will pick it up when I'm in the UK over the weekend. I liked the option with spool reducers and the choice of single or double handles. Now all I have to do is find a decent lake in Sweden with good sized Bream in. Very few carp lakes. That's why I'm thinking of renting my own lake and stocking it. You'd be surprised at the number of lakes over here and amazed of the lack of bank space.
  10. Hi Carassius, I'll try and find the original article and photographer. There was some debate on some swedish angling forums so I'll check to see what they said.
  11. Hi Mate, Won't be casting that far. Guess around max. 40 yards (?) bit less for bream fishing, so I know the Shimano would do the job, just wondering about any alternatives. As for rods, I'm looking at the KORUM 3G 12 / 2lb test rods.
  12. Hi all, The Shimano reel seems for many to be the first choice of reel for light carp work with the 5000 RE one of the most popular. I do think the spool is fairly narrow with a slight increase of spool height, I would have preferred a ‘mini’ big pit reel if there was one with a line capacity of around 200yds / 12lb line. Is there an alternative to the Shimano reels ? Anyone fancy the Daiwa Regal Plus BRI-AB reels ??
  13. What’s the advantage of having a double handled fishing reel compared with a single handle ?
  14. I checked the Transglobal website and it looks like they could do it for around £20 + vat with free pick-up. Brilliant. Thanks for the tip.
  15. Hi Budgie, I went through the motions of getting a quote on the interparcel website but before I could actually see the cost, the step before was to send an email to the courier to book the pick up ! UPS wanted like £75 ! Thing I can't understand is that on ebay, you can get a rod sent to you for £7.50 by Royal mail 2nd class standard. Although on the website they say the max.length is 150cm (5').
