  1. Garylee, thank you very much for your help. I'll definitely have a look at this, even more interesting if I don't have to change the rings. Happy fishing. Kind Regards Gerry
  2. Hi there, First and foremost, I’ll like to thank all members of the forum for their help over the years. I have a question which I am hoping someone will be able to answer. I have being fishing for guilt-head breams on the beaches in Normandy using a Daiwa Harrier Z 13ft feeder rod (model HR-ZL130PPF) for years. After initially replacing the rings for bigger ones, I have being able to cast a good distance (up to 80 meters) using a 4 oz grip lead. This works a treat and I have caught guilt-heads to the size of 3kg using this rod. I have being trying to get exactly the same rod so I can fish a pair of rods instead on one. Despite searching everywhere online, I haven’t yet come across one. Question: Is there any current Daiwa rod which has the same specifications as the one I described above, i.e. 13ft which will also enable me to cast a 4oz grip lead? Or do you know if there is a Harrier Z 13ft rod for sale from someone? In case you wonder why I use a coarse fishing rod on a beach instead of beach-casters, the truth is I own a few of these and fish with them for different species. However as amazing as this may sound, for some strange reason, the guilt-heads I’ve caught so far have ALL been caught on the feeder rod. I have also attached a picture of the Harrier Z rod from my last fishing session. I look forward to your answers and I thank you in advance Kind Regards Gerry

  4. Norm, Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately Shakespeare quoted me £141, which is rather disappointing, just like you, I thought it would be cheaper from them. My only hope is a friendly diver as you suggested, but I don't know anybody as I am from Twichenham in the London area. Do you know anyone? I am willing offer a little reward if someone miraculously fish it out for me. The exact spot where it fell on the South Parade pier is the top left corner of the pier, the corner section by the hole with a broken handrail (NOT the section facing the open sea). It went in circle between the square concrete work before it disappereared as the sea was coming in fast. I hope a diver or somebody who knows one sees this and possible give it a go. However I must stress that NO ONE SHOULD PUT HIS/HER LIFE IN PERIL FOR THE SAKE OF A ROD. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from you. Regards GC
  5. Hi All, I'm in shock as I just lost the top section of my Shakespeare K2 Extreme Titanium 15ft rod. This is only the second time I took this rod out, and had to save for 6 months to afford it; so I am rather upset. I was fishing on South Parade pier on Saturday, pull the rod out of the bag to set up and the tip section fell thru the pier. I tried to fish it out; a decent gentleman also tried to fish it out for me, unfortunately to no avail. In the end it just went under, lost for ever I have phoned a few tackles shop for a replacement, but this is proving to be very expensive, being quoted £75 & £83. Could any one out there please help? If you know a place where I can get this section cheaper, or someone selling an old K2 titanium 15ft rod, please let me know. Appreciate all the help I can Thanking you GC
  6. Hi there, I have bough almost all my gear from Jim's including my Shakespeare K2 Titanium rods. They are an excellent bunch and very helpfull. All gears were received within 2 days of payment and were all wrapped up properly. The top ring of one of my Shakespeare rod broke while it was still under warranty. I contacted Jim's and they promptly sent a courier to collect rod. The rod was replaced brand new within a couple of week free of any charges. I personally think they provide an excellent customer service. They also have excellent phone manner (a lady called Lucy in particular)....... Best of luck GC
  7. Thank you HA. A friend and I went down to Hayling on Saturday. We fished the right hand side of the Inn on the beach from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM - 4 rods with rags and mackerel baits. Not a bite. Not even a rattle on any rod. So we moved to South Parade Pier fishing the bay. Baits were rags and makerel, again we blanked. This was rather disappointing, more so as 2 young men fishing a few feet away from us on the front right corner of the pier could not stop catching good size bass. Within 1 hour they had bagged 7 bass. I asked what bait they were using, and was told mackerel. I am not sure what we were doing wrong as we were also using macky, perhaps running leger was not the right rig? I am feeling a bit disheartened at the moment as I have blanked both times I have been fishing Hayling (apart a few mackerels 2 week ago) and the South Parade Pier. Perhaps if any body has any tips, they could pass it on so that we can enjoy catching something after driving all the way from Twickenham? We were both using running leger on one rod and the other rod a 2 hooks paternoster rig baited with rags and mackerel. Thanking you all in advance Gerry
  8. Good afternoon everyone. I am planning to drive down south tomorrow Saturday (22 Sept) for some fishing. I not sure whether to fish Hayling Island or Southsea? I just wonder whether anybody could give me any idea or perhaps tell me what's the fishing like in those locations at the moment. I fished Hayling a couple of weeks ago (thanks HA for the good advice). Although I only caught a few mackerels, I like to try my luck there again as I truely like the place. However if there is nothing to fish, I may try my luck in Southsea. Any advice? Thanking you in anticipation Gerry
  9. Many thanks Carphead07 for your reply. I certainly look forward to fishing this area in the very near future. Regards GC
  10. Thank You HA for a very comprehensive reply. I fished Hayling beach, Eastoke Corner with a friend last Saturday. Baits were Worms (from Paige tackles), Squid and Mackerel. Started at around 7PM and packed up @ midnight. Lots of actions with all 3 rods permanently rattled, but nothing to show for it. We caught some Mackerels and kept 4 each for the pots. Attempted to get amongst the bass with freshly caught mackerel heads with no success. At around midnight, I striked on one of those rattles and caught a bream no bigger than 6 inches on a size 3/0 hook (could not believe it!). It must have been the breams plaguing us all along. Nonetherless, I had a great time and will be back soon for more. I just love the place and hope next time, we'll catch something a little bigger. Regards GC
