  1. I had a nice Grass carp a few years back just came in quite easy from a baitboated bait at long range, but once in swallow water and heading to the net man it shot off like a torpedo !!! my rear drag was all set up so no hook pulls and must have gone out half the distance i was fishing , in the end got her in the net and photos in the water on a floating unhooking matt but was still going mad !! got a few snaps and away she went........first one i have ever caught and had no more since and went 29lb-12oz..
  2. I found that the times between 11am and 2pm for me anyway produced the most fish in the winter months, i have done w/ender sessions in Jan, Feb time buurrrrrrrr...and only ever had 2 fish in the dark...long hours of darkness. I don't feel for the time and effort put in on a winter night carp session is worth the rewards..hit the day time slots and find a water that has good stock levels of carp, but go light and move if you need, its amazing how a carp will move about in the winter when you think its just sitting in the weed ! As for baits its already been said really but bright single hook baits, i rate and if i had the choice of one, it would be white chocolate in a 10mm, i had a Feb 30lb mirror two seasons ago.. very very rewarding, and the colours in the fish are stunning....good luck. ..
