  1. I've signed up as i'm 'hooked' on fishing programmes (when I can see them as I don't have sky). I watch clip after clip on youtube, so maybe I shouldn't have signed up, I can see it could be hard to drag myself away from the pc.
  2. Silver Bream if I am not mistaken. I know it's only small but it was only the second time in 10 years i'd been fishing so I was quite pleased with myself.
  3. Thanks for the advice. I've been in and he gave me some help choosing floats etc. I've gone for size 16 and 18 hooks and some wagglers for a local fishery in the hope of getting some bream. I also have a river float and a bigger type float that lets you fish deep. The hook line I bought is 2.7lb and mainline is 6lb
  4. Ok thanks. He'll have to get a day licence.
  5. Some time ago I saw a bloke catch a fish (not sure what type) from his boat on one of the Norfolk broads. He the killed it, gutted it and cooked it on his gas stove. I know most fresh water fish are actual edible, but is it legal?
  6. I need some floats, hooks, lines, disgorger, hook tyers etc, to start fishing...i've been very unorganised and didn't have the stuff to go out today! The thing is i'm not sure what type of line, floats and hooks to get. There are so many and it is very daunting to see the shelves upon shelves of stuff in the shop. I live in the Norfolk area so i'll be fishing the broads and a few rivers mainly, but there are a few commercial fisheries i'll visit. Any recommendations on the sizes and types of equipment? Thanks for you patience ps, I have a friend coming soon that will be coming along with me. I assume the rod license is for the rod and not the person who uses it?
  7. Are the fish more likely to bite on 16th because they've had a bit of a break? Is it just rivers that are closed then?
  8. Cheers, hopefully i'll have a small trailer sailer I can fish off on the Broads in a few weeks.
  9. It doesn't have a name on it. For ledgering would I need to use my finger to feel for bites?
  10. Fresh. Yarmouth is quite grotty. I can't drive so I will be cycling to place to fish from my home on Gorleston sea front
  11. Hehe, I know what you mean, quite a few anglers seem to use grunt language. Can you ledger with a float rod?. I only have one rod, it is an ancient cork handled 2 piece rod passed down by my grandad. I used to use it as a child and into my teens on commercial fisheries. I think I caught a 2lb Bream on it once but i'm not sure what weight it can take. I might have to buy another
  12. Nice fish. I thought it was a Bream when I first looked.
  13. Can anyone tell me if there are any rivers near great Yarmouth to fish? What are the rules with river fishing? Apart from the rod license can you fish on any river for free if there are no bailiffs?
  14. Cheers, i've just ben to fetch that bag so i'll give it a read with a cuppa. Thanks for everyones help
  15. Just got back from Aldi with a bag and book. The bag is really heavy duty good quality stuff, the strap clips are metal instead of plastic which usually goes brittle and snaps. The book looks really good as well. Good stuff for the money. I wouldn't mind getting the rod bag and the stool with rucksack attached as I haven't got anything to sit on. I'll have to wait until I get paid now though
  16. Cheers to all. Is leger fishing, feeder fishing and quivertip fishing all the same?
  17. Cheers. I've just come back from the tackle shop with a Leeda freespin 3000. Seems ok. Is there any reason the hook length is different to the line on the reel?
  18. I'm not sure you should be catching young cod. They are getting quite scarce
  19. How do. I'm new here. I've mainly come for advice on fishing around the Norfolk Broads. Fishing isn't half complicated when you first start, especially knowing what line to use
  20. Hi, I have just been given a rod by my grandad and I am going to take up fishing in the Norfolk area, on the Broads and rivers etc, I could do with a few pointers on what setup to use for this area. I'd like to fish mainly for Bream. What strength should the hook length be? Should the reel line be the same? I've read that size 18 hooks should be best. I also need to buy a reel but not sure what to get. I used to fish about 16 years ago but I have forgotton everything..plus my grandad used to set up the equipment. I went on a little trip recently and I can still remove a hook easily without harming the fish so that's ok. Thanks for your patience
