  1. Supposed to be launched fully today. Has anyone signed up? It's a fiver a month but i'm not sure how great the content is for a monthly fee
  2. Hi. You can get two of those lures here - Visit My Website Watch the video, its pretty cool, the fish/lure looks almost real
  3. Thanks. I've been meaning to use braid for a while now. The lack of springyness sounds apealing. One thing that concerns me though, using such high breaking strain, does that have any effect on playing the fish? Or is that just down to what heavyness of rod you are using? I guess no angler ever wants his line to snap so i'm unsure why light lines are ever used (I've been using 4lb mainline for bream over summer)unless they actually do have an effect on playing the fish. I'm guessing striking into the fish should be gentler than using mono due to lack of shock absorbing properties
  4. Ta fellas, here's the reel i've been looking at - Reel . It holds 230m of 15lb.Might get a more expensive one though depending what I can afford, I like to spend more if it ensures comfort and quality as well as lasting a while.
  5. Ok, thanks for the advise. Reels are cheap so I won't risk it. I've been looking at a pike reel by shakespear for £18 on the lathams website seems ok, i'll go buy that I think. What is it that makes certain reels good for a type of fishing? Maybe this is a topic of its own but i'd really benefit from knowing how reels work exactly. I'm guessing a reel for pike has somesort of gear ratio like a bike that turns small winds of the reel into powerful efforts on the fish. I'm actually finding the physics of reels quite interesting and exciting
  6. Would it be worth using 15 lb braid on the reel instead of mono for dead baiting?
  7. How does the sliding float rig work? What are the benefits? (Im new to piking)
  8. Great help cheers. All three spools seem to have the same specs. No good for pike then
  9. I have recently aquired a Shimano 35oom sgt reel. It has 3 spools and I am trying to find out what the jargon means on the side so I know what the maximum strenth line it can be loaded with ( I want to know if it is strong enough for pike). It says on the side MS - 3.5. Underneath that it says - line cap. (DIA.mm.M), underneath that it says - 0.14 - 170 0.18 - 100. Am I right in guessing that it is informing you of the minimum and maximum line width? I haven't a clue what the letters mean though. Thanks
  10. Predator becomes the pray is £45 second hand on amazon! Is it THAT good?
  11. I know what you mean. I've looked on Amazon and it is scarce pickings. I could just use the internet for any knowledge but I can't get on with reading off a screen but can read for hours from a book even though it is just the same. Plus I like to read on the bankside
  12. If you have a good one you don't need anymore i'd like to buy it off you, thanks
  13. I guess just lack of experience fishing for other species, especially the predators. I keep meaning to go pike fishing but I put myself off. I have been a few times with friends and have safely handled and unhooked pike but would still rather not go alone. I quess I could fish for perch but I don't think I have the right equipment and can't afford to buy any for a while. I've recntly obtained some tackle from a relative who can't go fishing any more but it all seems to be mainly light float rods, old cane rods that need some tlc and a 2lb test curve pike rod. I also wrote my car off last week and the handiest place to fish by cycling is an overstocked carp pond that charge £5 a day...that and a little puddle for £3.I got desperate and went twice to the carp ponds...didn't catch anything, i was aiming for bream(in the summer). I didn't like the unnaturalness of it there as I usually fish the broads. I can cycle to Fritton lake at a push, for some piking once I feel confident with that species. Although i'll need to have a kip for an hour once I got there. Are there any other species I could fish for during winter?
  14. Is it worth fishing for these at all during autumn and winter?
  15. Cheers, nice to know i can use one for all round fishing, takes to complications out of things. I seem to have some kind of mental blockage when understanding how rods reel and types of floats etc differ. Would the shimano be any good for pike and perch or isn't it strong enough?
  16. Just inherited loads of fishing gear including 3 reels one is the above mentioned. Another is a weird looking one(Abu garcia 1044) , and another is a ryobi - mastermatch mm200 graphite match spinning reel. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these and what there main purpose is for. They are all quite old. I assume the last one is for spinning. ta
  17. Is the fishing any good for other species there as well?
  18. Ok, thanks. Any idea how much they charge?
  19. Can you get to the bank on fritton, just had a look at a satalite overhead picture and there are no tracks going to the lake
  20. From what i've read I think the pagans had it right. Well, before they were robbed of there ideas, plajerised and burned to death by the 'Christians'.
  21. I base my belief on hearing and seeing the kids that are 'addicted' to these games/films. Their manner, speech (if you can call it that, they have little or no communication/social skills) and general behaviour are almost a 'carbon copy' of the characters they have watched, or the 'role' they have played. Where do you live? Hollywood?
  22. Does anyone know if it is any good for pike this time of year? I had a crash and wrote my car off and this is the nearest place on the broads I can cycle to. Cheers
  23. Heheh, whats that video called? Be better if they were real!
