well , thanks for the links Leon they helped the where abouts of pike but i still dont know what set up to use. Do you go ' pikin ' ? If so what setup do you use?

well, Yes, i am going to be pike fishing ' seriously ' I wont just be spending each winter ' pikin ' as long as it goes reasonably well i will be continuing during the year. I really only need a basic set up i dont really want to be spending a lot of money because i am on a relitively tight budget so is my ' fishing buddy ' I dont mind spending a fair bit though because i will be spending a lot of the year ' pikin ' Mainly Canals or rivers, i dont think we have planned a fishery trip yet. I am only 13 but love fishing. I have spent ages looking for a reasonabley priced bait boat and have found none. I go fishing when ever possible whether it is a free lake or in a fishery. I think a bait boat is a great investiment for fishing but on only £6 pounds a week pocket money i just cant afford a £400 bait boat. I was thinking about buying a normal electric boat and modifying it but i have no clue how to, please can you help suggest how i can turn £6 a week into a descent bait boat. Cheers Andrew

Hi jim. i to live in the dunstable area , i haven't tried Wilstone yet but earlier this year during pike season i did go deadbaiting in a canal for pike, sounds a bit weird but a mate of mine told me about it so i gave it a try. I caught 3 perch in the first hour ( 9, 13 and 15 pounds ) and in the second hour 2 perch ( 11 and 12 pounds ) I was so chuffed i left after two hours to make sure i didnt ruin the brilliant day. This was around the end of the season and of course i haven't been again this year because of concentrating on carp, but know i wish i had stayed for a few more hours and i cant wait to return to the canal in the winter. I would recomend you at least give it a try as i had so much success. Hope it turns out well, Andrew

I have recently been fishing at my local fishery ( Thorpe Lea fishery ) and didn't catch anything. The day before i had gone to my local tackle shop and bought new hooks ( size 7 ) and a bait feeder with a 40g weight attached to the feeder. I was using pinapple and maple popups, most of the time having one of each on at a time. In the feeder i had groundbait ( which i mixed when i got there in a bucket with fresh water ) with some red maggots. I really cant see why i didnt catch and i cant believe i wasted the whole day and £9 to sit and watch a lake. I thought fisheries were much better than free lakes yet i have cought around 20 pound carp in free lakes in a day and nothing in a fishery. PLEASE HELP!!
