That fish is called a Cassava in the Gambia and is also caught on the Portugese coast as a meagre fish .Big one in its northern reaches is about 45-50lb. Caught a lot bouncing lures off sand banks close to shore Must be one of the most wide spread fish around. I think its a member of the croaker family , same as a redfish .

Dear All I am again organising the Beach and Boat fishing festivals in the Gambia . The first week { from the 4th - 7th Nov } we will be having a 3 day boat fishing competition , 2 man teams with 8 teams in total . First prize is an 8 day trip to Cabo San lucas with 5 days marlin fishing for 2 anglers. We will have a practice day before the boat match proper and the week will cost £1069. This includes boat charter with guide , tackle , bait , soft drinks , transport flights and 4 star B + B Accomoadtion Then the second week { 11th - 18th Nov } we will be having a 3 day becah competition with approx £40,000 prize money , open to all comers , and will include flights B + B accomodation match entries all transfers bait and amtch day transport .
