  1. Today i was swimfeeding for carp, not somthing i'm really familiar with. I went for about 5 hours without a bite untill i changed my hook bait to a tuti-fruiti soft pellet. This gave me 3 bites of which i hooked all of them but also lost all of them. I was not broken or anything like that but they just came off. The question is why ? I'm used to float fishing close in the margins so i'm normally playing the fish quite close to me where as today i was fishing a good 100 yards out in the open water. Not sure if you should play a fish differently that far out or if it was just pure coincidence that this happened today as ive never had this problem before. Any ideas why i lost the fish today after trying so hard to get the fish into the swim ? I was just using a very simple rig so i really don't see it is a withthe rig but i could be wrong as i am new to feeder fishing. This is the rig i was using, http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/rig-section/fe...feeder-rig.html Today has left me feeling very angry as i worked so hard to attract the fish into my swim but have came away with nothing. Thanks Dave.
  2. http://www.fishtec.co.uk/online.cfm/umbrel...er/40/yes/41901 Are they any good ? I'm looking for somthing to use as a day shelter but will also be doing the odd over nighter.
  3. Thanks lads !!! So ive bought 2 Shimano ST6000RA reels today from Argos (£39.99 each, seemed a bargain !) now can't wait to use them and catch some monsters from the deep ! Thanks, Dave.
  4. Free spool is the same thing as bait runner aint it ? Could be wrong. Ive heard the fox has reliability problems ? Not heard anything about the Shimano.
  5. http://www.fostersofbirmingham.co.uk/BTAST6000R or http://www.fostersofbirmingham.co.uk/ST63108 I'm new to carp fishing and i need a baitrunner but i want somthing that's not gonna let me down every 5 minutes. Not really fussed about performance i just want somthing thats gonna last. Which reel will suit me better as a beginner ? If it makes it easier i will be pairing it up with this rod, http://www.brentwoodangling.co.uk/jrc/j4_rods.htm 2.75lb Thanks, Dave
  6. Ok so i'm gonna give this carping game a go. I don't have much money so i would like some pointers in the right direction regarding rod's and reel's. I have around £150 to spend and would like to get 2 rod's and 2 reel's if that's possible so please help !!!!!!!!!!
  7. Anybody fished it ? I'm going sunday for abit of Bream fishing, ive heard theres some big Bream in the Windmill lake. Any tips for catching me a PB ?
  8. Ok i'm new to this so here goes. Ive just bought a new spool of 4lb mono (300 metres) My question is, What is the best thing to use for packing your reel out before putting the line on ? If i put the line directly onto the reel i don't think i have enough line for the spool. Thanks, Dave
  9. Could just be one of those days mate. I had the same thing on Sunday, got to Holt Fleet Fishery at 5.30 am and left at 6.00 pm and did'nt have a bite. I just think we had a strange weekend, there was a big drop in temperature from Saturday to Monday, this may have affected the fishing. Chin up, go back next weekend and put your ming at ease. You don't always have to do somthing wrong to have a bad day, it's just the nature of the game. Thanks, Dave

    Shelter

Ive decided i need to invest in a shelter after beeing drenched to the bone this weekend gone. Ive got it down to 2. https://www.tackleuk.co.uk/?gclid=CJGHnJLdt...rolly/sp/546831 http://www.fishtec.co.uk/online.cfm/umbrel...ter/40/no/45314 Has anyone got one of these ? Which one is the best ? Is there another shelter in the price range which is better ? Thanks, Dave
  11. Don't sound normal to me mate. What rod is it ?
  12. I'm in Redditch but i don't mind traveling. I think i'm going to Manor Farm in Harvington at the weakend, has anybody fished it ? as i don't know really what to expect. Thanks, Dave
  13. Yeah ive seen the signes for tunnel barn and will give it a go over the bank holiday. Also seen some signes for Morton Springs near Henley In Arden, will also give that a go aswell. Thanks, Dave.
  14. I'm after abit of variety really.
  15. Ive just started to take my fishing more seriously so i'm interested in finding some nw venues in the midlands area. Ive been fishing WILLOW FARM FISHERY in Evesham recently as i really like the surroundings, it has a more natural look to it with plenty of trees and plant life around each of the pools. I'm not a big fan of just a big pool with no surroundings but i'm willing to try anything as i'm looking for a change. Thanks, Dave

    Swivel

Simple question, What is the purpose of a swivel ? Is it simply just to tie the hook length to the main line ?
  17. May be a silly question but nobody has ever told me how to protect the fish from damage. I see people have taken pictures of fish they have caught. How long can a fish stay out of water for ? How do you hold a fish whilst taking a photo ? General fish care ?
  18. Thanks for all your help. Do you think bread either end of the feeder would work ?
  19. Ok so the last couple of day's ive been using the feeder with corn and meat. The way i'm doing it is by using an open ended feeder, plugging one end with ground bait, then filling the feeder with corn and meat then plugging the other end with groundbait. It's given me some good fish over the last 2 day's but i now have a problem. Tomorrow i'm going to a lake that don't allow groundbait. My question is, how do you get around this ? I need something to plug both ends or the bait will just go everywhere while casting.
  20. WOW thanks for all your help. I'm now basically after a vote, which rod ? http://www.tacklebargains.co.uk/acatalog/R...--40--5231.html or http://www.tackle2u.com/prods/12ft-drennan...quiver-rod.html Which ever wins the vote will be the rod that i buy. Thanks.
  21. I live in the midlands and will be getting a BAA licence so i will be fishing Evesham, Worcester, Bewdley, pershore but it is common for me to travel for a couple of days fishing so i may take you up on that offer. I think when the season starts i will try and get as many bites as possible just to get into the swing of things and get used to where im fishing. The main reason i'm getting into river fishing is to catch Chub and Barbel but i'm a realist, i know i will have to get used to the waters before i'm ready for big Barbel so i will fish for smaller species to start with and hopfully as time goes by i will land that big Barbel
  22. As far as i can gather from people, trotting seems to involve alot of skill and experience so i think i will be using feeders and ledgers. The rod i am looking at is th DRENNAN SERIES 7 SPECIALIST AVON QUIVER 1.25 lb. Here's the link https://www.tackleuk.co.uk/?gclid=CJ_c-_WCz...-1.25lb/sp/4741 I really want an allrounder as hopfully in the future as i gain experience i will be able to attempt more skilled technique's.
  23. Ok so for the last 6 years ive been fishing the commercial fisheries with the pole. Ive now come to the point where i need a change, so when the season starts back up again i will be giving the rivers a go. The problem is, i have no idea about river fishing The first thing i need to buy is a rod, so i need a few pointers in the right direction. With a budget of around £140, what is the best rod for me ? Ive heard that the DRENNAN SERIES 7 is a good rod, is there a rod on the market that would do a better job than this ? Also i'm now selling my SHIMANO EXAGE AX POLE if anybody is interested ? Been used 3 times since new, perfect condition. £200 ono.
